Travel Write Sing Live at Black Dog in Saint Paul

Tim Houlihan Band at Black Dog

In rural Iowa Julianne Mason said something I never expected to hear from her. She said, “Luke, I need you and Hek to dig a grave for Tom so that we can burn him in it.”

Granted, she was filming a music video, and Tom was still alive enough afterwards to play our first of two shows in Saint Paul, Minnesota at the downtown wine bar and cafe Black Dog. On the road, where unfamiliarity is familiar, there are always those special hubs that feel like home.

Travel Write Sing 2014 Tour

Growing up in Bismarck, Minneapolis/Saint Paul has always been an important hub in my life. So playing music here for the first time on stage, meeting Tim Houlihan and his band, and catching up with Mike Degree, a drummer I played in a punk band with in high school, has been enthralling. Thanks to Caity Hughes, who came out, and has been coming out to shows since my high school punk band days, and who is a wonderful host for our rag-tag tour. Thanks to the venue, and Tim Houlihan and his band for having the Travel Write Sing 2014 Tour.
