Poetry: Loving The Leave

Bottle Cap Chekcers

Loving The Leave

I love leaving
Pieces of myself
Everywhere
There is a man
Who is completely content
To play checkers
Until a forgotten
Fanta cap skips
Over its overtaken
Sprite and Coke
Counterparts
Becoming the only
Moment worth
Recounting.

Later
When the
Diligent details
Call to mind
The moment
One possibility
In a billion
Shined brighter
Than the rest
When an insight
Moved a neuron
To move a grin
That moved a hand
Which lifted a cap
That changed the game
Which stirred his opponent’s
Hands to their head
His knees to bend and
Self-deprecating laughter
That folded his losing hand
To shake the hand who moved
The cap that triple jumped
It’s way to royalty.
